If you want to feel second hand embarrassment for dislikable characters, while simultaneously cringing at their actions… this book is for you.

It’s good, but took a weird turn when it came to helping Quinn with a past trauma. It kinda took me out of the story and wasn’t necessary for what they did.

This was a really fun book! I love the representation of a trans boy still dealing with getting their families acceptance, while on a path of proving he’s a brujo. The romance was super sweet and the magic system was fun to learn about, especially when it came to solving the mystery of his cousin’s disappearance!

This book definitely lives up to the hype! This has an amazing audiobook. Each character has a different voice actor and parts with the podcast episodes really added to the story. Of course a Carrie retelling is always going to be good, but the twist of this story taking place in 2014, but in a sundown town where racism is still prevalent was an amazing choice. It really worked for the story and added to the bullying aspect and why Maddie was at her breaking point. The last few chapters had my jaw on the floor with how graphic and wild the story played out and how it ended.

The idea of this book was really interesting, but it lost me at about the 80% mark. I wasn’t a fan of the magic system in this book and I hate the ending. It doesn’t make sense for the characters and I was holding out for a last minute twist or a good for her type of moment that never came. Also this book is very long when it doesn’t need to be.

This book had a good premise, but considering the author wanted to be considerate of bodily autonomy, she went about it in completely the wrong way. You can’t just ignore and hold off on telling someone that you accidentally gave them a love potion and believe that’s the least traumatic way to go about the situation.

There were some cute moments, but lying about the love potion and Morgan’s constant self deprecation ruined the book for me.

Literally so good, but also miss a few extra scenes that would’ve made this book perfect

Literally so good! It’s all the drama/scandal of a reality show meets a murder mystery. The back and forth between present and past keeps you guessing on who could have possibly died as well as who the murderer is. There are several twists that keep you on your toes and several made my jaw drop. This was so much fun to read!

It had the same charm as Elena’s other books, but it felt super rushed and that it was missing key elements to make it better. Adalyn is really dis likable and really never redeems herself. The story was okay, but the ending really lost me. They were acting as if the problem was end all or be all when in reality it wasn’t. Also Cam kept saying he was playing the long game, but by the time he said that Adalyn wasn’t fighting him back, and then he said it wasn’t a game for him so what was the point of all that. This book just missed the mark for me, but it still had sweet/funny rom-com moments.
