I’m two entries into this series and still don’t quite know how to describe it. It does keep me intrigued though. I’ll say that.

On A Sunbeam is at times devastating, but also utterly beautiful throughout! A stunning story about love, found family, and discovering yourself. A true masterpiece.

This was a very fun read! Not quite as good or engaging as it’s predecessor, but still a great time. Can’t wait to finish the trilogy!

I still have one more book to go, but so far this is my favorite book in the Percy Jackson series. I really loved how this book allowed certain moments to slow down, let the characters just exist in some moments, without moving at breakneck speed the whole time. It made for some poignant scenes and chapters, one that will likely sit with me a little longer. It also felt as though the themes and the characters’ awareness of them seemed to mature this book compared to the previous three.

I often find novellas to be rather unevenly paced, one of their biggest struggles across the board. Especially the shorter ones hovering right around 100 pages. They often seem to spend a large portion of time doing world-building and being atmospheric, and then rush the second half of the story, almost as though the author realized they were running out of space too quickly.
This is not the case for Silver in the Wood. Emily Tesh did a brilliant job of pacing this folkloric gem. I enjoyed every minute of this work, however short it may be. It was the exact right length for the story it needed.

Oh I really liked this! Those Left Behind was the perfect book to scratch my space opera itch. Think almost the Stargate franchise meets The Expanse. It does. A lot of world building and opens a lot of questions, but keeps it all nice and tidy with the characters holding the story together.
Based on what I’ve heard about the struggles to get this published, I have no clue how a publisher didn’t want to buy this story. But I’m so happy N. C. Scrimgeour persisted and managed to self-publish! I seriously cannot wait to read the sequels!

An Alchemy of Masques and Mirrors does not reinvent the wheel. But what it does tweak here and there is all for good measure, and makes the characters all the better for it. Isabelle not being an ableist caricature is truly wonderful, and I love her! This book was a delight from start to finish and I can’t wait to read the sequel!
