As part of my ongoing project to read and yeet any books on my shelves that I don't love, we come to my freshman year college history textbook which was honestly surprisingly readable. I learned a lot of things and now I need a fluffy fantasy novel.

I loved that Eyal doesn't blame technology or the weakness of human nature for being distracting. He addresses the real problems and gives real life solutions.

A bit of a slog compared to the first two; the pacing was never quite right. Too much battle and not enough storyline. The ending was satisfying for sure.

I actually liked all of these, which is perishingly rare in a short story collection.

I so, so wanted to like this. A creepy gothic horror house, unsettling children, and a lesbian romance: perfect on paper. Unfortunately, the entire thing drags. There are no subplots, so every chapter is like: here was a creepy day. And many more days were also creepy. Next chapter: this day was also creepy, but slightly creepier. And many more days after were also slightly creepier.

By the time the real action starts I didn't care anymore because I was so bored.

The romance was sweet and the ending was satisfactory.
