Briar. Sweet Briar. The character development is so real. As I read this book, there were moments I was really rooting for our FMC, and other times fully hurting for her. Themes of grief, abandonment, strength, and resiliency are littered throughout the chapters. There were “full steam ahead” moments, and “two step forward, one step back” moments. My favourite were the ones where the MMC simply holds space, with the utmost patience and respect, for our girl.

Grief is such a complex emotion, and @authoralfox’s executions is 👌🏼. We’ve all read stories where the grieving characters “get over” the grief and move on with their lives. For anyone who has grieved outside of fiction, they know this isn’t how it typically works.  It’s more about growing while grieving and revisiting those losses in a way that it starts to hurt a little less- a narrative that I think is far more relatable; and one that is captured in I Wish.

I Wish will be available for purchase through Amazon and available on Kindle Unlimited on May 15, 2024. Save it in your calendars!!!

(PS- While you’re waiting you might as well read I’ll Never Be & And Then I Saw You, too!)
