Does the mom die at the end of every Kristin Hannah book?!
I swear I cry every single time I read her stories. The world building in this book is second to none but the story was so tragic. Thank god for the happy ish ending

This one was slow to start but once it got going I could not put it down. I was a little underwhelmed by the perfect, bow-wrapped ending but positively captivated by the themes of gender, race, class, and privilege. The book as a whole was very thought provoking and required a deep degree of self reflection
