this is my first karen mcmanus, even though i’m pretty sure i bought “one of us is lying” a while back. i absolutely love her writing. you just can’t seem to put it down. it’s mesmerizing—the way the storylines all blend together. the way almost every character introduced held significance in the end. amazing.
it was pretty obvious that She was guilty, but the author didn’t hide that fact… it was only cal that was in denial. i can’t say that i wouldn’t have done the same thingflirting with the bad guy to get out of being killed/framed or whatever , but she was so cringey. Ew.
furthermore, i expected Him (archery) to be the snitch at least…BUT WHO EXPECTS A 16 YEAR OLD TO RUN A DRUG OPERATING RING LIKE WHAT .
i love ivy, but man did she need to talk to someone about her insecurities. i get the pressure and competitiveness, but did she really think he didn’t have pressure himself? of course he doesn’t hate her… well anyway whatever i might just be projecting.
cal was just… damn. i wasn’t /THAT/ lonely, but i relate to him a lot. mateo’s inner monologues struck home. like Ok so what if i didn’t want to leave because i would get lonely. =_= WHATEVER.
love that they started to fix their relationships (family, friends, etc) and their own personal problems at the end. yurrrrr good 4 them.
