I'm crying as I write this because I just finished the book. I'm sad it's ending because I'm attached to Evelyn (Herrera) Hugo, her life, the birth of her child, and the loss of her love, her best friend, and her daughter. I never thought I'd love a book more (it's a new favourite of mine, it deserves 6 stars). Books that are real make you feel emotions. Because real life has love and loss and death. All of it. All feelings are scary. They're the truth and we hate the truth, and I hate it, too, but I love it at the same time. This is not a fantasy book. Fantasies make you feel butterflies inside. Books set in real life like this make your heart drop and your stomach curl. It makes you feel emotions you're ignoring.
This is my favourite book - purely because I can feel it. I felt Evelyn's entire life in this book. And I hated and loved every second of it.

(I'm still crying re-reading this before I post it. This book will make you cry. And you better cry shamelessly about it. It's so good. And I love it).

I got to about page 483 (this book is about 800 pages, the longest book I own besides a dictionary lmao), I could just NOT bring myself to complete it.

It was starting to become SO slow, and nothing much interesting was happening, so one day (the date is not accurate, lol) I just shut the book, put it on my bookshelf with a bookmark on where I left off, and just left it there and it's been a few months now.

I read the first four books in the Harry Potter series perfectly fine, but Order of the Phoenix was just SO drag-y and boring to me!

p.s., I likely plan on finishing Order of the Phoenix and the other two books (Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows) but that'll probably be in 2024 or 2025 (lol).

EDIT: It's Sophie. (8/6/24) I FINISHED IT. AND LEMME TELL YOU I REALLY ENJOYED THE SECOND HALF. Even I can't believe it,  but I finished it and I liked it quite a lot. I might even like it as much as I liked Goblet of Fire. <3333
