The Day the World Came to Town: 9/11 in Gander, Newfoundland by Jim DeFede
5.0
I didn’t know much about the town of Gander, Newfoundland or what happened in the week following 9/11. I was in high school when that event occurred and so much of the media was focused on NYC & DC and the impending war.
I felt the author did a good job at mixing the accounts up in a way that showed spots of light within the darkness and sadness. I felt connected to people I had never known and that is rare for me to experience while reading a book.

The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris
5.0
This book was recommended to me by many friends and I’m sure glad I listened. The story of Lale and Gita showed that through unimaginable circumstances, love and humanity still have a chance.
Heather Morris balanced the line of suspense with action and horror with humanity exceptionally well. So we’ll it was hard to put down.

Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer
2.0
I am pretty sure the Stephanie Meyer who wrote Midnight Sun never met the Edward Cullen from the book Twilight. It is unsettling how different their personalities were and ruined the overall story for me. Fans should be careful what they wish for because I wish I could go back and never read this book.
