Shemilt’s writing is so clear and exacting to create the perfect visualizations and are also so rich with emotion. You can feel and understand the motivations of each character and can see the lives in great detail of so many people in her thorough prose. Quick read that doesn’t feel rushed I can’t wait to read her other works.

reading this book feels like you are in a drug filled haze alongside alex and you will leave this novel a little more unmoored from reality than when you started it; in a fantastically brilliant literary way

there are certain story points that i feel can be fleshed out further but overall this is a very tense and heartbreaking yet beautiful and satisfying tale of personal growth and familial bond.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 55%.
Richard Ayoade supports transphobic activists. Cannot stomach any of his writing now knowing that he can tolerate people who don’t believe everyone deserves basic human rights.

this book is so incredibly tedious. a weird amount of repetition and inconsistencies where it just feels like a publisher/editor never looked at this… i don’t even have the energy after reading this to type out everything that’s wrong with this story and it’s prose.
