This is a great little introduction to the witch hunts. It goes over the origins of witches and the most well-known trial cases in Scotland. It was the first time I read on the topic and it contributed to the growth of my feminist consciousness. What a great way to remember these women and celebrate their resistance!

By far the best fantasy series I ever came across. It has everything fantasy is known and sought for; it's complex, adventurous and filled with wonder. The magic system is very well developed as are all the different cultures, species and political systems. Eragon's story, though very exciting, is only a window into a universe that seems not only possible but real. This series defined my teen years and I still compare every book to it. I strongly recommend it to anyone who likes fantasy.

I read this book when I was quite young and impressionable, but I still think it's a little-known gem. These women's stories taught me a lot about how rich a long life can be. I loved unravelling this mystery and getting to know each of them. There are a lot of lessons in there, but I often repeat to myself the motto, 'I may not be beautiful, but I can make something beautiful.' Thank you, Miss Margarets!

A page-turner that had me laughing from start to finish. I would recommend it to any book-loving teen with the appropriate guidance.

You know an author is a genius when, more than 200 years later, her books are as fresh, funny and comforting as ever. This is one to read, re-read and hold tightly in your arms (always with a hot drink, of course!).

While it's important to bear in mind that this is a work of fiction, it draws some important connections between culture and politics and does a phenomenal job of capturing the zeitgeist. That's about where the good things stop. It may be interesting to see how a monster can also be a kind uncle, but I'm not sure the millions he slaughtered, tortured and displaced would care much.
