Having a hard time remaining interested in the plot here. At 33% the main thing keeping me going is if the Rose will find out who the Rook is. Also what is up with this weird club Ren joined.

I love RF Kuang and I don’t care who knows it. She is one of my auto-buy/read authors. My experience reading her has predisposed me to loving her books so do with that what you will.
Kuang expertly captured the insidiousness and the delusion of the “nice racist,” with how June refused to confront her own mediocrity, thievery, and racism despite NUMEROUS opportunities for learning, changing, and doing the right thing along the way.
June lived in a world where she was doing the right thing because it was what she believed she was entitled to, and when the consequences of her actions happened—it was because she was a VICTIM *severe eyeroll*
June Hayward does not have an original thought in her head. Her only avenue to success was through stealing and appropriating the works of people better than her. Her audacity knows no bounds! And even when the idea of doing the right thing seemed like the only way forward, she DUG IN DEEPER. She couldn’t let go because so much of her life was wrapped up in her white delusion that she’d have nothing left if she let if go.
A lot of white people are gonna be uncomfortable and mad when they read this, and if you’re one of them, I’d encourage you to sit and confront those feelings before making a TikTok about how you didn’t think this book was good. Don’t be like that TikTok guy dissing Babel and missing the point!

Putting this on pause now. I hate when books stay in my currently reading queue to long 😂

This was so adorable. I don’t usually like love triangles, but I loved this one! I also loved how Zahra was able to chart her own parth and honor her family and religion. Such a wholesome ending.

This is the second time I have picked up this book and I just cannot get into it. The whole blood curse/Vampire thing is just not for me. Disliked A discovery of witches for this same reason.

This was super cute! Loved the revenge plot. The romance was the perfect amount of cheesy and cute. Loved watching our girl Ela, grow!
