It was a cute read. I enjoyed the way they approached health anxiety and healing from trauma. I am here for all of the representation. It's so needed. Miscommunication isn't my favorite trope but I feel it was done well here. All in all, cute story about a sweet couple.

After the disappointment from The Maidens, I decided to have no expectations for this book. I really enjoyed the way this story was told. Were the twists as shocking as The Silent Patient? No. I had pretty much figured what the twist would be but that didn't take away any of the entertainment from the story. A fun read. I think it would make for a great series or movie.

I wanted to enjoy this book. There were so many great concepts that were either left unexplored, rushed through, or abandoned completely. The romance took the front seat of a story that needed world-building and magic-building. I found myself not even caring about the characters because their development was so lacking. It had the potential to be so good and the beginning of something great. If there is a second book, I would be very wary to give it another chance.

It was a fun time. I can't wait to see what happens as Rumor trains and becomes more confident in herself.

At first, I honestly thought it was a Lisa Regan book under a pen name lol. I enjoyed it. I need to start the series from book 1 to really know how I feel about the characters but so far I like them. If you love Lisa Regan’s books, these are very close.
