Tia Williams is a genius. she's now 2 for 2 on writing books with concepts that couldn't interest me less, yet end up being so well written that I love them.

admittedly I was worried going into this because of how mixed the reviews were, but I actually enjoyed this! I forced myself to read the whole thing in a day because this gave such "this will be bad if you have to return to it" vibes so I'm sure that helped. is this as good as AGGGTM? a laughable question of course not. but I do think it's better than AGGGTM's adaptation so that's my scale.

the book is just so unoriginal that I couldn't make myself read it. okay backtrack the world building is original but it's bad so I can't count that as a plus for the book.
I'm in a slump, so I actually thought a generic romantasy would work wonders for me, but I've now tried this LIBRARY BOOK twice and both times I couldn't stand reading it.
I didn't like the one and only other book I've read from Whitten, so this was me trying her again, which was obviously unsuccessful so I won't be trying any more.
maybe if I was in a better spot I would be able to read this and give it a nice 3.5, but now is not the time and there are just so many other books that I highly doubt I'll ever return

sorry this was so bad. I could not stand these characters, I could not stand their weird beliefs about weed, I couldn't even make it to the slashing. the writing style was just horrible to the point where I couldn't make myself pick this back up. also, what kind of strand of weed do they smoke where they're acting as hallucinogens?
