I like this book because it shows a different side of sex from what the movies show. Bukowski portrays sex as an ordinary occurrence, a tool for manipulation, far removed from the romanticized versions we usually see. Moreover, his misanthropic antiheroes have a sharp and pithy tongue that gets to the root of the story.
This has become my new favorite book! Choke is disturbing, effectively blurring the line between what is and is not acceptable in our society. Nihilistic to the point of despair, this book is full of great quotes about life in general.
It's a shoutout to people who depend on others to feel whole. If you're feeling lonely and/or dependent, read this book. Also for people who cannot function if they're not in a romantic relationship.
