I love dramatic audio, but this is definitely hit or miss depending on which of Jane Austin’s work you like and don’t like.

I honestly loved the premise of this novel…but goodness, was it painfully slow.

Bird and Squirrel is a really fun children’s graphic novel that I just know a bunch of kiddos are going to have a blast reading!

Dang, I am just...floored by the plot of this dramatic audio book.

In general, it starts off with a very cutesy and rather silly storyline; a text to a wrong number and a romance kindled over time. Knowing what I know about all of these Audible Original graphic audio books, I wasn't expecting anything mind blowing or brilliant. They've all been pretty simple but at least mildly entertaining. Entertaining enough.

This one though had a rather insane plot twist that I genuinely can't believe someone actually wrote. It's the sort of thing that almost feels like...it's too out there for it not to have been inspired by something that actually happened with someone. Honestly, it took the cutesy right out of the whole story.

And I, quite frankly, cannot believe that he forgave her.

I’m not entirely sure whether or not there was a purpose to this past just…loving cats.

I’ll expand on this later, but using a bunch of dialogue exposition to explain sense into your “plot twist” does not a good book make. Just…oof.

Just Listen was not the first Sarah Dessen book I read, but it does happen to be one of the ones that has stuck with me over the years. It’s weird to think of this book as a sort of comfort, especially as you consider the sensitive topics addressed within its pages. And I’ll admit that I never thought I would relate in that way to Annabelle.

There’s certainly a lot to say for what this book can teach it’s readers as well as the catharsis that can come from the connection, even when it clearly comes from a trauma.

Outside of all that, you also have a story that leads to a genuinely heartwarming place, characters to admire and appreciate, and a well-written journey. I think I’ll always be glad for that.
