While I loved the first book in this series and was sooo excited to pick this up, I was a bit disappointed.
mostly because of the pregnancy trope, while I think it was an important pushback to Cades character I felt it as a cop out in a way, and his trauma in that sense could be working through that and deciding to have a baby rather than "being stuck " again.
Over all I thought these characters were amazing, very spunky and sexy of course, and the addition of a young kid through the development of these characters was also so well done. I love the glimpse we see of characters from past books as well and I just love the hints we see into the potential stories of the other side characters.
overall I enjoyed the book, due to school I had to take some breaks in reading which could also be causing some of this disappointment, but im definantly going to continue in reading the series.

I will say this is firmly continuing my "cowboy era". These characters were so damn lovable and the tension built was so so good. I love so many of the small tropes trickled into the story, and the care each of them hold for each other in the story. I am such a sucker for what I call "shitty romance novel" -
( none are ever shitty I just happen to reread the same story in a different font over and over and my friends make fun of me for it)
and this was just amazing to almost cleanse my pallet of harsh school readings as well as the dense fantasy I've been reading. Just know my boots have been on my feet, and the other in this series are on my TBR like yesterday !

Reading this book feels so so nostalgic, I am just a little bit older than Percy in this novel, but having read the entire series while in middle and high school over and over, it was so refreshing to see a new version of Percy, a funny, older, driven and passionate character that was super fun to read about in such a low stakes environment, granted there was still moments where he grapples with death (iykyk) but the lighthearted dialouge and just pure Percy and annabeth moments we get make reading a children's book at 19 so very worth it.

This was one of my small book club books, and I was honestly disappointed. Granted I am not much of a YA reader so I wasn't expecting any intense relationship building, but even when focusing on the plot it felt very flat, and most of the moments were very predictable. It felt like a hunger games want to be in a fantasy outfit and it was lacking intrest till the last moments, and even those were really rushed.
Im sure if you are younger this would be an amazing introduction to fantasy but I wouldn't honestly recommend to any older readers.

Emily Henry truthfully did it again, I am obsessed with all of her books but the depth of characters and the slowness at which the characters began loving and knowing each other was so beautiful. I love the opposites attract kinda vibes created, along with the more subtle fake dating.
I was lucky to go to a midnight release party and got home and couldn't put the book down. I know with the horizon of the new movies based on her books in the future I will definitely be reading all of her books again, but additionally, randomly enough in my book haze induced few hours of sleep between reading this book, I was reminded in a dream that books are meant to be consumed over and over again and to not limit the amount of times reading a book you truly love.
As a writer myself I can't help but be constantly inspired by and in absolutely awe by all of her books but this might take the new top spot!
