Once I’ve heard or seen enough spoilers of a book (or in this case heard the entire plot) I find it difficult to get through the book by myself. However, in this case each new development in the plot or main characters still came as a shock and knowing the ending did nothing to diminish the impact of the plot and value in reading it for myself. Michaelides had my attention from the first word to the last and did not disappoint.

This book was such a endearing read. Lennie’s grief and her character development is relatable to anybody who has ever lost anyone and though profound at time, the writing always had an air of lightheartedness.

Not my favourite read. I caved under the pressure of Booktok and Booktube but sadly it was not a fav.

I can definitely see the allure of this novel and there are certainly analogies and quotes that pulled at my heartstrings and quoted that were absolutely beautiful, however overall the writing and formatting of this book just didn’t appeal to me.

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from this book or author. An employee at my local book store recommended it to me as I was walking around because I had shown interest in African literature and I believe it was a fairly good recommendation. Definitely nothing like what I assumed or predicted.
