This Summer Will Be Different by Carley Fortune
5.0
I adored Meet Me at the Lake and learned so much about contemporary romance simply by reading it. [a:Carley Fortune|21483807|Carley Fortune|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1635516338p2/21483807.jpg] is now one of my very favorite authors, so of course I preordered [b:This Summer Will Be Different|197577126|This Summer Will Be Different|Carley Fortune|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1694006777l/197577126._SY75_.jpg|200146115] the second it came out. But then I saved it. The circumstances had to be perfect before I could dive in, or I wouldn't be doing the book justice.
I waited MONTHS, y'all. But I finally got over myself and devoured this book over the last two days. It was wonderful. The way the romance grew was unique, the setting was divine and richly brought to life, and the banter was top notch (as were the steamy scenes). I fell in love with Lucy and Felix as they fell in love with each other.
Carly Fortune proves once again to be a master of romance. I've already preordered her next one, and I won't let nearly as much time go by before I let myself dive into it.

I'll Have What He's Having by Adib Khorram

This book was phenomenal! The characters were deep, nuanced, and fascinating, their problems were compelling, and their sweetness is unrivaled. I loved learning about Iranian cuisine and sommelier training, while the unique setting and older (late thirties) protagonists were refreshing shifts from the usual romance fare. Plus the sex was
Pansies by Alexis Hall

I'm thoroughly enjoying my reread of Alexis Hall's Spires series, and [b:Pansies|205519733|Pansies (Spires, #4)|Alexis Hall|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1719445749l/205519733._SY75_.jpg|51841846] is tied with For Real as my very favorite. I was desperate for a comfort story, and Alfie and Fen delivered a thousand times over, even as they grappled with very real problems. Love love loved this one.

Wow, I cannot believe [b:Vicious|40874032|Vicious (Villains, #1)|Victoria E. Schwab|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1710867690p2/3099544.jpg]'s earliest books! The rage radiates from the page, and the need to know what's next had me staying up late into the night to finish. Her closing image was stunning, and I've already compiled a list of people I'm going to give this novel to for Christmas.
