I’m sad to say this book fell extremely flat for me. It felt preachy and YA, unlike its predecessor. While i agree with the values and messaging, I didn’t need it constantly lectured, like a lesson in every chapter.
There was no real conflict. The magical children are perfect in their imperfections, Arthur and Linus always know what to say, and nothing ever happened that someone didn’t have a quick solution for. The children especially were overly mature and lesson-giving.
Just boring; an unnecessary repeat of the first book, but this time felt like Klune was trying too hard to convince us (and literally spell out for us) of what we’re already know.
