How the Word Is Passed: A Reckoning with the History of Slavery Across America by Clint Smith
5.0
I've loved Clint's poetry for a few years, so it didn't surprise me that this was well written. It's affecting, personal, well-researched, and moving. I love how it was organized into locations--a topic this big has to be broken into pieces a brain can take in. I felt like I was visiting--or in some cases revisiting--the places as I listened. I chose the audiobook so I could hear the author read his words as he intended them to be heard, and I'm so happy I did. It's deserving of every award it's received.
