I enjoyed the mix of historical romance and gothic thriller that Cañas gives us. Mexican history isn’t something I have learned much about before, so it was interesting to learn about this.
I enjoyed the mix of Spanish and English. There were a few terms I had to look up, but the mix of English and Spanish terms just added to the atmosphere. The audiobook was brilliant too, and prevented me from butchering a load of pronunciations in my head 😂
I enjoyed the mix of genres (a little horror, a little romance, and lots of history), and I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed the historical elements.
Néstor and Nena were both enjoyable POVs to follow. I enjoyed both POVs almost equally, with maybe a little preference for Néstor as a character. I did feel for him quite a bit with how hard Nena was on him for leaving, but I understand her reaction, too.
The vampires were really good. They were fairly monstrous and definitely felt menacing.

The short interview format was such a strong aspect of World War Z. It allowed the reader to explore a number of perspectives with a narrative style that is easy to digest. This reads well and, in my opinion, could not have been written better. The audiobook used multiple voice actors which made it even more interesting and easier to differentiate between the numerous POVs.
I find zombie stories (on TV) to be hit and miss, so wasn't expecting much from this book. I was wrong and I enjoyed it a lot. This was less of a zombie book and more a book about how these different POVs react to the zombie outbreak.
Chandler Baker is one of two authors in this collection that I'd never previously read, so this was a good introduction to her work. Big Bad is a fairly predictable werewolf horror, it almost felt like an episode of Supernatural, but it was engaging enough, despite werewolf fiction not being something I gravitate towards.
My favourite of the Creature Feature series so far. Any sort of ecological basis for a horror/thriller is a winner for me.
This didn't do it for me. I don't think the audio improved the story.
An interesting short read about a couple grieving after a miscarriage. The perspective of the husband in this situation was good but I would've liked a POV from both of them. It was atmospheric in places but the ending gave me B-movie vibes.
