The Shadow of What Was Lost

- couldn't get on board with the characters or the plot
- also read somewhere that there is time travel

First read: thrilled to be reading about Major Reacher, but the whole thing went on too long. Too much random detail (weapon details, journey details). I refuse to believe that it was a surprise that there was a cover up - he would've caught on to that much earlier because I did and I NEVER beat Reacher to the punch.

Re-Read: reading in chronological order, I enjoyed this more on reread.

Uzumaki was one of the strangest things I'd read until I read Gyo. I liked Gyo more than Uzumaki. The body horror is quite unsettling towards the end and definitely outdoes Uzumaki on that front in my opinion. The finale was not what I expected and initially it underwhelmed me but then I was quite impressed by it.

Gyo has restored my interest in reading more by Junji Ito after I read Shiver and didn't like it anywhere near as much as Uzumaki and Gyo.

My favourite Junji Ito so far!

I think the biggest struggle for me is all the info dumping (creature names, character names and past events). It felt like reading a second book where details can just be mentioned because you know about them from book 1.

3* feels generous.
