The first half made me think it was going to be a little more complicated and nuanced than it ended up being, which was disappointing. Overall there was a lot more that I wanted from it that it never gave me, but there were also a lot of things it did well.

A big part of this book is that the colony is basically in a famine, so they're on an extreme calorie restriction. It's not an eating disorder exactly, but it means there's a lot of talk about calories and hunger and restricting food that could potentially be triggering.
