I think The Chronicles of Prydain is best described as Memory Sorrow and Thorn written in the style of The Hobbit.

Overall my ratings average out at about 3.75/5 for the series as a whole. The 1st book was really fun change of pace for me, the 4th book was surprisingly deep and dealt with some really cool Heavy shit, and the rest were aight.

My ONE complaint about the film Howl's Moving Castle is The Witch of the Waste and the fact that they keep her around. I get irrationally angry anytime I watch it. The character Glew in books 3-5 left me feeling quite similarly; absolutely drove me up the fucking wall. That, coupled with an extremely frustrating death fake-out at around 75% cost this book a couple notches, but otherwise it was a solid ending to the series.

Gasoline.

A condemnation of Racial Oppression, the Patriarchy, and the Religious State wrapped up tightly in 500 pages that I blew through quicker than any book I've read with my eyeballs in probably 10 years. And that's to say nothing of the world building, the characters, or the unique and awesome magic system!
