While the background story of immigration and "lost children," is compelling in it's own way, the forefront of this story focuses on a touching family story. It is with the combination of these two that Lost Children Archive works as a book. This book is trying to say a lot, sometimes what feels like too much, but in the end even if you don't pick on all of the overabundance of allusions and references that range from Lord of the Flies to Dolly Parton, there will still be something there for everyone to connect to in some way. Also the book got way less interesting once we changed perspectives from the mother I wish we had just stayed with her.
