Healing feels like betrayal. Like releasing a fragile, precious thing kept from crumbling only by the pressure of his hands.

Do you like Found Family?
Do you have trauma?
Do you love a good cry?
Well do i have the book for you!

Lord of the Empty Isles is easily one of my top 10 books this year. It is heart wrenching and beautiful and so full of love.
I adored all the different forms of platonic and familial love that we got to see grow between the cast. Every character felt so full and well rounded and I loved the growth that Remy had, though i am hoping that we get a sequel because I think there is so much potential for more growth with the rest of the characters!
It was easy to be drawn in and absolutely absorbed into the story and so easy to care about and fall in love with the characters. the world building wasn't clunky, the action was fast and fan, and the emotional moments we so strong. I cried multiple time. I am excited to see what Arbeaux does next.

I was honored to be gifted a ALC from the publisher and netgally. Audiobooks are my main source of reading and this one was great! As a southerner, I did struggle a bit with the southern accent for Idrian but quickly adjusted to it and it didn't hinder my reading experience!

Wow. Just wow.  "Fire Exit" drew me in and immersed me in Charles's world in a way that i don't often experience in Lit Fic. This is an amazing story of love and loss and family and the highs and lows of all of those things. the author did a great job of breaking up the heaviness with with comedy and i could not put it down once i started. As someone who has taken care of multiple ailing family members and dealt with the struggle of dementia and the mental and emotional burnout that comes with caring for someone that way, Charles's storyline with his mother hit very close to home. it was emotional and beautiful and heart breaking. Poor Charlie has so much going against him in his life yet he was able to find joy in so many little things. To make it even better, Darrell Dennis delivered a phenomenal narration of the story. Huge thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for the gifted copy of the audiobook. this was my first read by Morgan Talty but it definitely won't be my last.

Do I think this was a necessary addition? No
Did I still love it? Absolutely

I’m not sure why somethings happened or why we had a third pov that was in 1st person instead of 3rd like the others and it kind of threw me off. But overall it was still very enjoyable. I love this world and I love every single character
