I think i just have too much going on and the pace of the story was a little confusing. I’ll try again when i can get my hands on the physical copy of the book and have more down time.

This story is so gut-wrenching. I finished this final book while trying to go to sleep around two am but i just kept crying. my heart breaks for the pain all of these children had to endure.

It's been such a difficult read to get through. I love love Zeller as a narrator, but their voice brings to life such terrible characters and listening while not being able to do anything is disheartening. Kuang is an amazing story teller, and this second book was perfect. If you can handle the heavy topics in the first book, you'll be able to get through this one as well. It's hard to say you enjoy something that is filled with such pain, but it reminds me of how complex humans can be.

Bladestay is a western tale of betrayal, vengeance and love. It was written from a third person perspective with many flashbacks adding context to current in-story events. Our main character is Theo, a 17-year-old girl who will do anything for her family. This headstrong young lady disguises herself as a boy and infiltrates a group of violent men as they search for a traitor and a diamond.

The way this book is written makes it so much easier so speed through it! I love the pacing and how you’re thrown into the mess of it all directly from the first page.

everyone in this book gave me the ick. couldn’t put it down. MC deserves so much better.
