I had to sit in silence for a bit after realizing that Dirk might not be Korean after all, but instead,  Caucasian.

Just wasn’t for me. I couldn’t find the motivation to read it and every time I did pick it up, reading it felt like a chore.

FMC is very much a Mary Sue, but the book isn’t all that bad. I will say that the exposition and descriptions are definitely the best part of the book—they’re so poetic!

Nothing too memorable, but a fun read nonetheless.

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST. That was one hell of a ya novel. The dialogue, the characters, the setting, literally everything about this book was top-notch. Absolutely amazing.

The tragedy and angst and gore and a certain sunshine character’s decent into cruelty were the highlights. I also appreciated how Lauren made it so easy to understand all of the characters’ viewpoints and why they did things. Romance was nice too, but if someone says that this book is slow-burn then they’re LYING to you badly.

I feel like it’s intended for the FMC to be childish and not mature for her age, but BY GOD was it almost unbearable to read. Every time the FMC spoke, I had to brace myself for what she was about to say. There were also pages upon pages of yapping that I could not bring myself to care about no matter how hard I tried.

Overall, this book just wasn’t for me.
