Okay so holy tension—Will They, Won’t They, When Will They Again. Gave me St Clair vibes (early Hades and Persephone series). But really it was the ambiguity around who the FMC is and the freaking cliffhanger—from Lach’s chapter to the epilogue.
A lot of reviews say there’s mafia vibes, but it’s more Night Court (yes, SJM) with guns. Not bad, just wasn’t getting mafia vibes.
Good side characters I hope get more page time and sub-stories of their own.
Some good spicy scenes, but the build up is superior. But I like a good tease, so take that as you will.
I have more questions than I wish, especially after Lach’s chapter, but I suspect that’s what Lee intended—damn writers. Insert “I’m tired of this grandpa” gif here—but really, I’m not tired of it😂.
This was just entertaining as hell, and I honestly am mad I didn’t know the second book wasn’t out until April 2025.
I mean, the ring and all of Lach’s chapter. SO many questions about WHO Cate is.

I thought because I’d seen the movie before reading I wouldn’t enjoy the book as much. But I did a buddy read with my friend and found myself gripped by the story again. The characters are deeply complex and dark, and Flynn does a fantastic job of making you feel for both Amy and Nick. Tension, twists, and just an all over wild ride from start to finish.

I went in expecting one thing and was given another. There’s found family, great characters, an interesting magic system, some intense action scenes, and different approach to the romance subplot.
I’m eager to read the next one to learn more about Inara and see what else Kissen can do.

3.5🌟
3/5🌶️
My first “light-stalker” romance. Still unsure how I feel about it, to be honest (lol). Some parts made me think “nah” and then some parts made me think “🤔 maybe..”
Do check the trigger warnings. They’re at the beginning of the book too. Listen to them.

*reread*
I’m always afraid to reread 5🌟 books. Especially when it’s been years since I first read it. But I shouldn’t have doubted Morgenstern.
Magical and romantic, and even though it still breaks my heart how everything went down, the ending is perfectly done.
(Audiobook is read by Jim Dale and 100% just as great as physically reading)

Thriller with a borderline creepy setting. There’s a wide range of side characters, even though it’s from a single POV. The pacing is a bit slower at points, but that’s purposeful and helps keep the tension flowing throughout—makes you guess when the tip over will happen.
Fun as a buddy read!!

This is a cute love story, and different from most other romances I read. Instead of calling it quits, a married couple works to rekindle their marriage, only to learn more about themselves along the way.
Dual POV, strong leads, and after a bit of a slow beginning, the pacing picks up around the middle. Good side characters and individual arcs.

The chokehold this had on me…
Mystery, FMC rage, the “largest male I’ve ever seen” trope(😂), really interesting magic system/world building, good side characters, solid tension (regular and 🌶️), and just all-around entertaining.
I would have given it 5🌟 had it not been for the unpredictable POV shifts. Hope we get a better balance in book 2.

A fun, adventurous story through a very intriguing world. A bit lighter than Sanderson’s other stories, but doesn’t make it less entertaining—especially with who the narrator is.
There are funny moments, serious moments, and lovely moments. You won’t be disappointed.

Wish I would have read Woman Last Seen first, but after reviews I thought it was just the same detective on a different case. Even without reading the first one, though, there was intrigue with the mystery and a solid plot. It’s emotional and zigzag-y and entertaining—as a good whodunnit should be.
