(actual rating is more like a 3.75, originally posted to storygraph) I enjoyed this book a lot honestly. However, almost none of the side characters were likable. I hated all of Sana (the main characters)’s friends except for maybe Reggie, and of course I liked Jaime. The pacing was nice! I do however wish there was more to the resolution rather than just “everyone’s forgiven now, no need to expand on what just happened! Let’s skip forward in time now.”

Spoiler I have to say though, I really hate the cheating plot. It was unnecessary, and could have been resolved so much better. While it was Sana’s choice, her shitty friends pushed her into it, not respecting her identity or feelings at all. And that was never addressed! Like what?

Aside from that, it was a good book. I completely relate to Sana’s panic about her being a lesbian, and I’ve never seen racism explored in this way before (I am white) and it was interesting to see another perspective I haven’t seen before.
All in all, I definitely recommend this book, and I’ll be looking for more of Sugiura’s work.

i got this book at it’s midnight release several years ago and Jesus Christ this is one of the worst goddamn books I’ve ever read in my life. I’d give it 0 stars if i could. It’s garbage and ruins several characters, on top of being a bunch of nonsense plot wise. It’s utter shit.
