I want so badly to read more stories from this cafe, to know about all of the characters and the cafe itself and just everything. Both books so far have been so captivating in a way that I have never felt with a book before. Kawaguchi truly has a gift for writing

Incredible. Had my attention hooked the entire time quite frankly, the characters were so interesting and I want to know everything about Agloe and what happens next like oh my god??? Incredibly engaging and one of my new favorites I think

Well written but too many threads left loose in my opinion. Like there were several plot points that got introduced but then literally nothing happened with them like??? It felt really rushed in certain places, there are several scenes where more should have happened but it just stopped and moved on to the next nothing scene. Idk, it’s entertaining enough but I am really irritated by that ending I won’t even lie. A cut off, fade to black, loose ending CAN be done well but I don’t think this is a good example of that.

I would absolutely rate this higher than 5 stars if i could. I think this is my new favorite book of all time. It was genuinely such an enjoyable read and I never wanted it to end. The world feels so rich and beautiful. The whole conversation of “maybe we don’t have a purpose other than to live, and that’s fine” is just….oughhh my god I’m gonna cry. I loved reading this and have no doubt I’ll come back to it again

Did not finish book. Stopped at 11%.
Literally only made it to page 35 before dnf’ing. This just is profoundly boring already and I don’t care much for the seeming obsession with pregnancy the MC has. fascinating concept but Christ I just don’t think it is gonna be executed well and I don’t care to finish it

(review from goodreads) unfortunately I had to DNF this one. I really thought I’d like it but once I hit chapter 15 I just. Couldn’t. Meddy as a character is..kind of boring honestly. And the whole like “”murder”” thing is just bizarre. like initially it was just an accident but then due to her 1) not checking for a pulse, and 2) moving the body??????? it definitely ramps that shit to a felony. And the fact that Nathan was like all happy to see her?? It does not make sense. Literally at all. It just is not my thing and not my sense of humor like I don’t get where the comedy is supposed to be.
