I'll be posting a full review to my blog, but let's just say: I loved this book. I read it in three sittings, and it would have been less if I wasn't so busy. It's definitely on the upper end of YA, I would personally classify it more as New Adult, due to the age of the characters and the darkness of the themes. But, everyone knows genre classifications are largely subjective these days.

When I say dark, though, I'm not talking shadow daddies or nonconsensual intimacy or anything like that. It's just dark, like the Hunger Games is dark. Which should be expected from the synopsis, let's be real here. I don't read a lot of darker stories anymore, but I don't regret reading this one, and I'll definitely be picking up the sequel. I'm excited to see what the second book brings.

And yeah, although there are certainly plenty of romantic elements, which are all very well-written, this is a no-spice book, in my opinion.
