Typically, I’m very picking about what determines whether I like a age gap romance. I don’t avoid reading them but it’s very rare that I fall head over heel in love with the couple. I find that when authors write this trope, they lean towards a more lusty story, which is personally not my cup of tea. Reading Adrift made me realize another reason I have a problem with most age gap romances is bc the mmc will fall in “love” with the fmc BECAUSE of her age instead of IN SPITE of it. Darian & Rani fall in love for a multitude of reasons and age is not one of them.

Rani stumbles upon Darian’s ski & kayaking school during  on a girls trip. When she realizes how much her brother in law - yes I said brother in law- is struggling with the aftermath of loss of his wife, particularly pertaining with his one year old son. Because Rani is a extremely compassionate human being, she volunteers to nanny her nephew for 11 weeks.

One of the most beautiful aspects of Rani & Darian’s relationship is how natural it takes place. Spending all that time together, they began to fell in love with who each other for who they were at their core. They’re both givers. Darian is someone that carries a lot of pain yet endures for the people he loves most. Rani -despite the reason to be bitter- shows a gentleness & kindness to everyone.

I loved how possessive but respectful Darian was. It was VERY hot reading his  jealousy scenes. I also loved how he constantly went out of his way to make Rani feel special even when he didn’t know how to put his feelings into words. Rani had a  talent of being able to see past Darian’s walls & see the vulnerability laying behind them. She saw him as a person who had lost more than anyone should & showed compassion accordingly. She made him feel seen.

Overall, I absolutely loved their story. It was unique -putting a twist to popular tropes. A love story about defying the odds & finding hope at the end of the tunnel.

Ummm I don’t even know where to start...Fear Me takes bully romance to another level. I was angry, frustrated, & confused 90% of the book yet somehow I couldn’t stop listening? Lake & Keiren’s relationship is the epitome of “a train wreck that you can’t look away from”. There were multiple moments that I considered dnfing bc Keiren is ABSOLUTELY BRUTAL, but again I couldn’t help but hold out bc I NEED to see how things were gonna end. I NEED to know WHY Keiren tormented Lake.  No reason would excuse his behavior but I wanted to get the chance to understand his character. Even though I had to wait to quite a bit to get to that point, I was not let down. Keiren’s past is horrifying. There’s no other way to explain it, but I guess you’ll have to read for yourself to understand.  I really enjoyed Lake’s character, I just wished she would’ve fought back more or sooner bc she isn’t a frail person. There’s fight in her. Not showcasing that was the biggest disservice done to her character. Lake is STRONG & LOYAL,  willing to do ANYTHING to protect the people she cares about. I found her friendship with Willow very heartwarming. Even when she had reason to be upset with Willow, she showed compassion & understanding. When Sheldon got added to Willow & Lake’s duo, I was ENAMORED with their dynamic. Their friendship literally embodies the phase “girls supporting girls” & I loved every bit of it. Sheldon was probably my fav side character bc of how real she is. I loved that she had no problem standing up to the boys & she’s also  really funny. She’s the type of friend I want in real life. That being said,  I’m most intrigued about Willow & Dash’s relationship. I have a feeling Dash is gonna be my fav guy of the group. After really reflecting on what I just read, I’ve come to terms with the fact that I actually throughly enjoyed the book. Yes, there were things I didn’t love but I think the way it was written was really ingenious. I can’t wait to continue the series.

I was giddy & kicking my feet the entire time reading this book. There was no point that I wasn’t cheesing. I’m serious, the smile Adam put on my face was indestructible. Nothing could wipe it.

Kenna is a girl’s girl which I love about her! She’s knows what she wants & isn’t afraid to go for it. Which is exactly what she does with Adam. It was refreshing to read about the fmc being the one to do perusing. And not for a lack of feels on Adam’s part but bc he was feeling SO MUCH, he didn’t know to express it, in a appropriate matter (considering how he was raised).

There’s so many things about this book I loved
