A New Leash on Love by Aurora Rey, Jaime Clevenger

A New Leash on Love was a fun end of year read, perfect for this time of year. My main reason for requesting this book was that I love a romance with pets, I even have a specific tag for it on The Storygraph so I can always give recommendations if people ask :D Olive the dog was a very worthy edition to the tag, little matchmaker that she was.
Kit and Shawn were two very distinct main character with clear voices of their own, and they're not afraid of open communication (mostly :P) and I absolutely loved that!
I loved the rep in this, and how it influenced their small town living. it felt realistic without being over the top negative.

BEAcon of Love was a very cute book, and I really liked the anxiety rep in it, I feel it was well done.
The romance was a bit lightning fast for me, but with the setting and 'time limit' it worked.
I really liked that while it is in broad line a famous person / fan book, it's not like the fan was super obsessed levels infatuated with the famous person. It made it a healthier start of their dynamic than some stories have!
I really hope there may be a part two with (trying not to be spoilery here) dynamic of the side characters that happened near the end of the book. Both the gender thing and the other thing sounded like they would make for a really nice new book!

This book was a lot, and it wasn't great for my short term mental health because it pulled me into the issues of the characters too much. I guess that's a good sign for the the quality of the writing 😅
