uhhh. i’m happy i read this? i was expecting more from it in a sense i cannot quite touch - but i enjoyed it for what it is (though i do want  to clarify that enjoyed probably isn’t quite the right word). a fever dream. dark and twisted and honestly just outright disgusting at points. hesitantly recommend it? if you can stomach lapvona this will be alright - though i’d recommend that book over this one.

god. heartbreaking. tragic. but the best love stories are, no? no one ever shed tears for happily ever after.

love love love. wish i would’ve picked it up sooner. nothing i would improve. nothing i would change. the characters aren’t perfect, in fact they’re awfully flawed, but that’s what makes them real i guess. thoroughly recommend. beautiful.

I love this book. I do. the plot is intriguing and interesting, the concept is unique and i wanted to keep reading to make sense of the story. read it in almost one go. HOWEVER. the writing in this book is atrocious: its not bad technically but the character descriptions and endless references to pieces of media that do not enrich the descriptions are funny the first few times and then they simply become annoying. it’s like the author has to prove to you that she knows pop culture and has seen all the cool movies. these references and descriptions can’t even be brushed off as coming from a character that is annoying in that way: they are written into the descriptions. mordor. david bowie. eternal sunshine of the spotless mind. we get it! you know what movies are! it’s like an alien was trying to put in a completely normal  amount of human references and failed. ugh. but the book is good! made me emotional towards the end. would recommend.

i read this book less than a week ago and am struggling to recall a single plot point - i found this book quite bland, quite forgettable. the main plot isn’t really resolved and the main character is self absorbed and stubborn without it lending itself to the development of the novel. the ending was extremely unsatisfying, and felt very rushed: all other plot points and twists are drawn out (somtimes too much) but the entire resolution and ending spans about 30 pages. wouldn’t read it again. annoyed that i paid for this book tbh. there are so much better books out there, save your time for those.
