This book takes a quintessential Hallmark plot line and peppers in some of the funniest lines I’ve ever read with a twist and modern, relatable characters. Even my husband was laughing as we listened to the audiobook on our roadtrip. He told me he was going to reenact the wine scene 😂.

I liked this book! My first Dark Romance in a while. Thoroughly enjoyed the story and pop-culture references. Loved the spice and the build up.

I felt like the feelings developed suddenly, but this wasn’t enough to detract from the story.

This was so cute 😭 I loved it all. I laughed, I cried, and I appreciated the accurate portrayal of what it’s like to live with PTSD.

This was just ugh. So good.

This is just not a book for me right now. The audiobook didn’t engage me as much as I thought it would and I found myself just not connecting with it. I’d like to try the physical copy and see if I feel differently. For now, I don’t think this is for me. I’m gonna shelve this one and try again later.

I’m giving this a 5 for humor, perfect tension-building for the spice, and for how the author connected all of the dots and wrapped everything up so nicely.

Lachlan and Lark have such wonderfully distinct personalities and I found myself really feeling the characters emotions, something that I think is very tough to write.

I found a few things that bothered me, one being the use of the word “base” instead of “bass” to describe the music at the club. Mistakes like this really peeve me. A more careful eye should have caught this in editing. I found the plot to be choppier than B&B because some parts were intentionally left out which I get, but it made for a choppier read.

I actually wish this book had been longer since the author chose to incorporate a few short chapters with the Phantom, which was also fun.

Overall, the vibes were great and I loved this book.

This collection of poetry about nature, Appalachia, and the reverence is so soothing to read once you get the cadence down. bell hooks is an incredible writer and her feminism, intersectional.

The poetry was a great switch up.
