Really enjoyed this book and couldn’t put it down, although I found the end of it a bit less cohesive than the earlier parts! A good read overall

Poignant and heartbreaking in parts. I read this because of the second half’s subject matter (shell). With that in mind, I don’t know if I would recommend this to other trans people, but I do think the discussion of a partner’s transition as both a loss and a joy for the partner that does not tend toward transphobia could really stand to inform some GC discussions.

I won’t put a star rating on this book because frankly, it just wasn’t for me. I think if this is the type of book one likes, it’s likely a very good iteration thereof—intriguing, captivating, and very disconcerting.
