I thought this book was inspiring.

Sometimes it can be hard to humanize a politician, but I think she’s about as human as it gets and everyone can learn something from her. I enjoyed her personal stories and the lessons she derived. Some of her sentiments made me choke up a little.

Definitely recommend the audiobook since she narrates it herself.

I personally am a fan of Governor Whitmer and was lucky enough to interact with her a few years ago for a brief moment photo opp. She was lovely.

…… I immediately ordered the second book….
I personally loved this story - so far. A pretty easy and quick read. I wouldn’t say this is a literary masterpiece by any means, but I thought Marhrer wrote a wonderful story that made me enjoy romantacy.

You think you know a part of history, and then you’re reminded of and exposed to new depths. This books pushed and pulled you through every zig and zag that faced Cora as well as the people she encountered in her Underground Railroad journey. Every time you thought you might know where the story was headed, Whitehead jerks you in a different direction. I appreciated how some events were open ended, and he made sure to close the circle so you weren’t left with “but what’s happened to them?” A heartbreaking, devastating, exhilarating tale. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys historical fiction.

Bridgeton romance meets a poorly written Agatha Christie murder mystery.

If you’re looking for extremely surface level, and predictable murder mystery romance, this will be great for you. Low stakes, low steam, and little mystery. I definitely did not hate it, but it was just too easy of a read and not at all thrilling. Not what I would’ve hoped for, personally. Not a bad option for a beach read or to get back into reading.
