What a wonderful story!!! August shows us how to be kind, even when those around him don’t show much of it to him. I really enjoyed seeing how his friendships formed over time. This story also shows us that sometimes the unkind things kids do or say to other kids, has a lot to do with their parents, as in the case with Julian.

Lots of history

This was my second attempt at reading this story. The first time I could not make it through. The story itself is a good one to be told, but the writing style lost me. The story drifted away into other things that had nothing to do with the main storyline. I feel it lacked focus and I would find myself easily lost.
