Interesting Read

This was a very interesting read. A whole new way to look at these women and their lives. I have always enjoyed the way Liz Curtis Higgs writes and she did not disappoint this time either!

This is a magical story. I listened to the audio book and I really think the person reading it really helped with the magical feeling. The story tells of a flooded world, where few islands remain, and those who inhabit the land are landlockers. Everyone else lives on boats and are known as damplings. North is a dampling she works as the bear-girl on a circus boat known as The Excalibur. Callanish is a Gracekeeper. She arranges mourning ceremonies for people with loved ones who have died. I really enjoyed all of the characters, especially those from the circus.

I know that I am in the minority here, but I thought this story was just okay. It was not terrible, but it was only okay. The beginning of the story was okay, but as it went on the more I just wanted it to be over. January was a good character at first, but the more the story went on the more I felt all she wanted to do was complain about Gus and how she thought he treated her in college. She assumed that he hated her and therefore she hated him. I guess some people are like that in real life, but it was not what I was expecting for a "beach read".

Childhood Memory

I have always loved the movie from the first time I saw it, but I had never read the book. I am so glad I read it now. It is a wonderful classic story and a wonderful childhood memory.

A story of faith

This is a wonderful story filled with love and faith. There are wonderful heart warming characters. I cried more with this story than any other. Tears of sadness, tears of joy, and reminders of God's love for us.

This is a retelling of Peter Pan with some dark twists to the plot. It is told from Wendy's point of view. I had a really hard time getting into this book. I had a hard time relating to Wendy so it was hard for me to read from her point of view.

This is definitely meant for adults. Gertrude has found her way to Fairyland and ends up stuck there for 20+ years. The violence that takes place does not make sense, it just seems that she was killing for no reason.

This was a fun story to read with likable characters. The story takes us on a trip to London and we see the sights through Lucy's (the main character) eyes.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book in exchange for my review.
