This was a reasonably enjoyable read, but it felt like too much of a repeat of the first one.

This was an interesting idea, but I wish it would have played out differently in the hands of an author who wasn't focused so much on the romantic entanglement.

I have read quite a few post-apocalypse novels, but most had a grittier and more depressing feel to them. This one was rather engaging in its simplicity, but sometimes I wished for a bit less wholesomeness and some more well-rounded characters. It is funny to think about being cut off from civilization in our modern age, but I supposed it could still happen if we lost electricity. Not much inter web without the juice.

I enjoyed the pace of this one - not quite as hard driving as much of the scifi that I often read. Given the premise, it wasn't always clear what to expect with the character interactions, which made for interesting surprises.

This was quite a wild ride. At times, it wasn't always clear what was happening, but it was easy enough to let the techno-babble wash over you. It was interesting to have your sympathies shift around who were the good guys. There was clearly some gratuitous examples of what was called ultra-violence in A Clockwork Orange, but it got so cartoonish that it was not overly disturbing. I did wonder about the motivations for some of the characters and events, but in a fast-paced read like this, such deliberations are better left to eggheads.

I'm looking forward to reading the second book in the series.

This one started out with some interesting ideas and settings, but finally it became a little too confusing. It was difficult to keep track of the characters and which world they belonged in. Also, we never really got the sense of a primary protagonist, somebody we could root for. Consequently, when the final action scenes arrived, I found myself not really caring that much because I didn't have a horse in the race as it were.

This was an enjoyable quick read. The characters were a bit simplistic, but the plot moved along nicely and the tech parts were interesting. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.

I found the first half of this book a bit confusing, with the fast switching between character perspectives and the immersion into an unfamiliar world. The narrative came together a bit better for me in the second half. Some interesting ideas about our evolving over-reliance on technology.

I thought the author did a wonderful job of packing a bunch of different characters into each of the two main "bodies". I bet this would make a good movie - I wonder if it has been optioned yet.

The sequel portrayed an interesting transformation of Daemon as enemy to a preferred world order. Some of the action sequences were a bit over top, but this was an enjoyable ride.
