The only reason this gets a 1 star instead of none is because I feel that Komi's inability to communicate is very realistic and does work well as a premise.  However, so many of the other characters are just weirdly characterized and seem incredibly one-dimensional and prop-like.  I am unsure also about how they're handing the gender/identity of one of the characters - perhaps that gets handled better in later volumes but the whole comic just feels so childish and poorly written that I'm not bothering with the rest.  Genuinely shocked to see people recommending this as the first manga for people to read as I think it's a very poor example of this type of storytelling.

An interesting read and I'm certainly invested enough to read the next book in the series.  Truthfully, I am more interested in the way magic works in this world and less in the characters, though they do have their charms.  Mostly, I found that they all felt very surface-level, useful for plot purposes but not really fully developed and I'm curious to see if the next book resolves some of those issues.

I have not yet read the full book, but our library recently got the graphic novel and I figured it would be an interesting read.  Seeing the parallels in our current society is worrying and nauseating.  The book itself is beautifully illustrated, making use of the dull environmental colors so the red can pop.  It feels.... lonely - empty.

They're on a date.

JK (but only sort of).  I love the way Gaiman paces his comics, the mix of funny and serious, and the character interactions.  I'm not a huge DC comics person so I know many of the references were lost on me and I have to say that I'm not a huge fan of the art but overall this was enjoyable and fun.

Cute and sweet - just a fair heads up though, there is a LOT of sex and some kink.
