This book is INCREDIBLE. The stories and lives of so many dimensional characters are interwoven throughout this book, lives that were brought to this cathedral through chance, disaster, war, and poverty. Ken Follett achieves sheer brilliance in this book.
Oh goodness... It's such a good book but there are definitely parts of it that disturb me a bit, such as Tess's willingness to commit suicide should her husband bid it, or the fact that Angel just abandoned her after she confided her biggest and most painful secret to him... There is definitely a double standard here that I dislike, but I still can't seem to put the book down. I suppose I have to look at it with a different perspective to understand.
