i'm writing this as the conclusion to my reread of the caraval trilogy - and i can tell you that this series is still by far one of my favorite things on our beloved planet. i might be biased and/or overly emotional but this book made me ugly cry at least three times on this read alone, and made me laugh out loud and still made me gasp with excitement and intrigue.

the vibes are 10/10. i believe that the story was wrapped up nicely, without so many burning questions - besides the one concerning scarlett and tella's mother that was revealed at the end. i'm excited to finally jump into the OUABH trilogy for the first time (...besides the first book🤫) and see what connections i can make and easter eggs i can piece together now that i have the original trilogy fresh in my brain.
this is a series i can see myself rereading numerous times - the characters are always interesting and the plot always keeps me on my toes. i'm delighted to live in a time of stephanie garber's writing and the magical world or caraval.

finale, specifically, had me reevaluating my definition of love. when does caring turn into possession and love into obsession? is there a fine line between all of the above, and do we really know what love is? as far as i'm concerned, love is long-lasting and never ending. obsession only lasts so long until the initial excitement wears off, once you have what you want in your possession. then it's on to the next big thing. to summarize, my journal received a lot of pondering while reading this conclusion😭

GLORIOUS I TELL YOU🥲😭💞
i will never forget this reread, it meant so much to me :( miss garber KNOWS how to write a story that will draw you in and break your heart and stitch it back up all within five hundred pages😭
i often relate books to the periods that i originally read them in the first time and this one is connected to memories that are sort of the same vibe of the story - sad, but better by the end.

in legendary we follow our baby donatella dragna, the sister of our main character from caraval. at the end of the first novel it's revealed that miss tella got herself into a bit more than she thought when trying to save scarlett from marrying the count that she didn't even know and herself from the hands of their wicked father. following these events from the last book, we see the mess that she truly landed in and that the new caraval game headed to the capital is different than the past versions - this one is real. we were constantly reminded in the first book that it was all just a game and to not be swept top far away, but in this one it's said from the very start that everything that takes place will be as real as real can get. the fates are back and are read to be free once more but legend craves power. tella is going to dangerous lengths to find her missing mother, paloma (...if that's even her real name🤫) and she is faced with difficult choices👀

can i please take a moment to talk about how much i fell in love with dante???????????????? YES HE MIGHT LOWKEY BE PART VILLAIN BUT????? LIKE I WAS ON THE GROUN  FOR SOM  OF THE SCENES LIKE SIR?? no, i am NOT okay. i obviously remembered that he was legend but i didn't remember most of the res tof the book if i'm honest and it was just so !!!!!!!

this had me on the edge of my seat, oml.
i can't believe i waited so long to read it?? major trigger warnings for toxic relationships and teenage domestic abuse situations. i had a feeling i knew who it was but i dismissed it😭 i'm truly a clueless mystery reader and watcher, but i love that it's (usually) a surprise !

I love this so much. I read Cosmoknights for the first time the same year that I realized that I was indeed a lesbian😭 Rereading Cosmoknights brought back good memories of being on bookstagram and still being heavily involved with the bookosphere, but more importantly, it still made me cry (congratulations🥲) and laugh just as loud as it did the first time, if not even more. The character designs AND THE BACKGROUND DESIGNS???????? i'm so in love. my inner artist is QUAKING. over the last few years i've found myself consistently thinking about this graphic novel but i never found the time to read book two on templer's website🤠 but it has finally been made available over on hoopla and i am eternally grateful for this series to be my first reads of the year <3
