intensely dark, atmospheric, and claustrophobic.
this is much more than just typical horror. it’s focus is on the horror of the human condition, isolation, loneliness, vulnerability, despair, hopelessness and for me that is much more horrifying than most of those “evil supernatural entities” that sets out to haunt you for no reason.

i really loved the first three stories but the other three slightly fell flat for me, nonetheless i had a good time.
banana yoshimoto never ceases to amaze me..the way she weave her words with such care and tenderness is so comforting🤍

i can feel another crack on my heart..
im sure that i’ll catch myself thinking about this book from time to time even after ten years
also, this book is kinda reminiscent of another book called ’i’ll be right there’ by shin kyung-sook for reasons that i can’t quite explain..maybe its just that similar feeling that i felt after reading these two books..both of them tugs at my heartstrings❤️
