I really struggled with the narration in the book, but the stories of the individual characters and their choices were compelling for me. Lots of parallels to our current world; good food for thought.

I enjoyed the overall storyline of this book and learned a lot, but the author’s ignorance at their own world and land was not an easy listen. The author’s obliviousness and awakening to lives outside of their own white privilege almost had me out the book down several times.
