Where'd You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple
4.0
I really enjoyed this book, but I wish there had been an epilogue. Also the two of the final three pages of the copy I read were published wrong, instead of pages 324 and 325 a printing error inlaid pages 224 and 225. Whoops.
Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
5.0
I have actually read this book multiple times; it is one of my favorite all time fantasy escapist novels. It has some problems with two dimensional characters and awkward phrasing and conversations, but it is just so much fun. I love this book and it continues to be one of my favorite summer jams.
Little Heaven by Nick Cutter
2.0
Of Nick Cutter's novels, this is by far the worst. Bloated, slow, and light on genuine scares. Cutter tries his best to imitate Stephen King with a slower pace and more character development than he has previously written, however he could not create compelling characters, locations, or even villains. Stay away.
Never Caught: The Washingtons' Relentless Pursuit of Their Runaway Slave, Ona Judge by Erica Armstrong Dunbar
4.0
An interesting look at slavery, the original first family of the U.S., and the woman who dared to escape and have her tale told. Ona Judge's story is fascinating and it reveals a side of the Washington family that is rarely heard.
D'Arc by Robert Repino
4.0
The war with no name series continues with an excellent sequel that is written well and highly engrossing. Repino tried to do a bit too much with this one with several story threads that had to be tied up quickly and not very efficiently. However the story is intelligent with well imagined characters and characterization, this continues to be a unique sci-fi adventure that is top quality.
