“Dissonance before moments of harmony makes the harmony sound beautiful. Just as harmony and dissonance exist side by side in music, life is the same. Because harmony is preceded by dissonance, that's why we think life's beautiful.”

“What I feel is that if one has got to have a murder actually happening in one's house, one might as well enjoy it, if you know what I mean.”

“Yes, talk to Murderbot about its feelings. The idea was so painful I dropped to 97 percent efficiency. I’d rather climb back into Hostile One’s mouth.”

“Success is often the result of a series of failures. Try to remember that. You never learn anything from success, but failure can teach you everything about a person. Especially yourself.“

“What a tool cynicism is to the corrupt, claiming the whole of the creation is broken and fraudulent, and thus we are all excused to indulge in whatever sins we wish—for what’s a little more unfairness, in this unfair world?”

Did not like the narration. I know the characters are supposed to be narcissistic, but the voices he uses for them made them practically unbearable for me.  Worse, though,  are the volume dynamics. Narrator speaks barely above a whisper for sections, forcing you to turn up volume, then all of a sudden has the next character practically yelling, blowing out your ear drums. Going to switch to a physical book.

“The truth, however ugly in itself, is always curious and beautiful to seekers after it.”

“They had just digested a recent meal of prepositions and were happily farting out apostrophes and ampersands; the air was heav'y with th'em&.“
