Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen
I have a clear memory of reading this, but apparently I didn't review it? Or even rate it? God, I hate when this happens.
A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guin

it's not bad, but it's not really the kind of fantasy I go for. for me, the writing is too flat, and the climax was wrapped up too quickly. however, I did still find it interesting enough for high fantasy, and I'll probably read the rest of the cycle later. otherwise how could I possibly call myself a fantasy fan?

It was just too cute! Yes, there was insta-love, but did I care? No! I was too busy shipping like crazy to care about anything anyway.

Already insta-love. Blech. And I feel like Benway is trying way too hard to make teens like her book by making everyone super sarcastic, or a rebel, or a hot guy, or chill parents. That's not what I read YA for or why I love YA so much. Maybe I'll read it again later, when I'm more in the mood for a light read, but I doubt it.

hm. it was an interesting book, but above all, it was just sad. how the boy had to see things he shouldn't have and was forced to grow up, leaving his childhood behind. and the man, doing everything for the boy, but not being able to do what he thought he had to do in the end. it's kind of hard to explain, but it just leaves me with this overwhelming feeling of sadness.but hey -- that could always be my depression! fun times, my friends.
