3.5 ⭐️ HOT! HOT! HOT!!!!

“Do you think I wanted this to happen? Never in a million years, but it did, and now I’m not leaving without you. If it takes forever, then forever it is. Because you are mine and I am yours.”

WHAT TO EXPECT:
✨ Millionaire romance
✨ Mom's fiance
✨ Smart, determined, virgin FMC
✨ Morally grey, arrogant, possessive MMC
✨ Age-gap
✨ Light dom/Sub
✨ Daddy kink
✨ Praise kink
✨ Anal sex
✨ 3rd act breakup with AMAZING grovelling
✨ HEA

I read this for the smut, and it did not disappoint.

Wasn't sure how I was going to like a 'mom's fiance romance', but the mother was such a bitch that I couldn't help but root for Jett and Raven. Plus, Jett and Raven's mom weren't really in love. It was more of a beneficial business-like partnership than anything.

It could have been a slower burn before the sex, and I wish it had gone more in-depth with the characters. But for a smutty, taboo, age-gap romance, this was it.

2 ⭐️ meh, not for me

WHAT TO EXPECT:
✨ mafia romance
✨ age-gap
✨ arranged marriage
✨ enemies to lovers
✨ traumatized, kind, silent (by choice) FMC
✨ dangerous, possessive MMC
✨ political intrigue
✨ smut
✨ HEA

A mafia romance without much plot and surface-level character development. I couldn't get into the story and never got attached to the MCs. I only finished reading because I was bored, and it was a relatively quick, easy read.

What I didn't like:

- Conner and Noemi's reasoning was hardly ever sound. Whether it was their reason for falling in love or justifying some of their actions, the logic didn't quite add up.

- The dialogue between the MCs and people they were close to was not colloquial and often sounded forced or robotic.

- Conner's inner dialogue about Noemi and his feeling towards her was unbelievable or not how any man would describe a woman.

- A lot of the things Conner did was straight up psychotic, but Noemi refers to it as caveman behavior. Just felt like she was brushing off a pretty big part of Conner's job/personality in order to accept him romantically.

- Both Conner and Noemi would emotionally leap during this story. One minute they're just attracted to each other, but then the next, they randomly decide they want every part of them - their mind, body, and soul. I didn't understand where these deep feelings came from. Seems to me it was done to push the romance forward and give the characters a deeper connection than they really had. At one point, Conner even thinks, "How had I gone from begrudgingly agreeing to marry a woman to obsessing over her thoughts and feelings?". I'm here wondering the exact same thing!

- Noemi was always worried about what Conner would think of her whenever she got too emotional or freaked out.

- For some reason, waitresses LOVE to touch Conner, and Noemi gets extremely jealous. I have never personally been touched or seen anyone touched by the wait staff at a restaurant. But this happens every time they go out. This is an unbelievable situation that is only there to further the romantic plot.

- When Noemi is sobbing and tells Conner the truth, how does he respond? He commands her to take off her clothes, get on her knees, and close her eyes. Fuck this guy. I get this is a mafia romance where the guys are all about control and dominance, but Jesus Christ, can you take care of your girl first before forcing her to submit and sticking your dick in her?

- The fight scene at the end reminded me of the newscaster brawls in Anchorman, where bad guys from different gangs kept popping out to join the fight. I rolled my eyes so much.

Overall, Silent Vows had potential, but there were too many issues with the characters, romance, and plot for me to enjoy it. I really wanted to love this story, but unfortunately, it wasn't it for me.

Thank you to Jill Ramsoweer for providing me with an e-arc in exchange for an honest review. As always, all opinions are my own.

2 ⭐️ not for me

I can appreciate the author’s effort to create this world and give us characters with some depth. And I’m not gonna lie, the entire premise of a milking farm was oddly sexy.

However, a few things:

1. I realize minotaurs are not my jam. I can deal with the horns, tail, hoofs, and fur. But what I can’t handle is the fact the guy has a cow face, and his bovine tongue is written in such detail that I genuinely cannot get over the fact that she’s essentially getting tongue fucked by a cow. Nope. I’m out. I guess I learned where I draw the line with monster romance, and it’s whenever the face of the love interest looks like an animal.

2. How the story was told drives me nuts. There was a lot of explaining and telling rather than showing. Halfway through the scenes, the author would backtrack to explain how they got there or interject the MC's personal thoughts or history - like a tangent. It just didn’t allow the story to flow well.

3. The characters and their backgrounds weren’t that interesting. Every time Violet started talking about her career wishes and family, I skimmed. By the end, I really was just reading to find out how the romance ends.

Overall, this just wasn’t for me, but it is readable, so that’s why I have it 2-stars. I wouldn’t recommend it.

4 ⭐️ Everything I could want in a novella!

"I've never loved the feeling of being used and so selfishly fucked before, but the idea of being this twenty-year-old's fuck toy has some strange appeal to it."

WHAT TO EXPECT:
✨ MM
✨ insta-lust
✨ age gap
✨ student x teacher
✨ forbidden romance
✨ scarred hero (physically and emotionally)

Once again, Sara Cate has created a story with just as much spice as there is heart.

But first, let's talk about the spice!!!! The fire that burns between Pax and Thomas is undeniable and explosive. Things start off with a bang in chapter 1, and they certainly don't fizzle out throughout the story. If anything, it gets even hotter.

I absolutely adore Pax and Thomas!!!! Both men have things to work on or issues to overcome, but something draws them together, and it's together they're able to find happiness. I loved witnessing the moments of the vulnerability between the two. Thomas wanted to take care of someone, and Pax was looking for acceptance and love. A perfect match. ❤️

Overall, a beautiful and sexy story that you should read!

3 ⭐️ So much angst with a happy ending

"Lead from the heart. Let the feelings take over and crash against you."

After a heartbreaking tragedy, Billie must come to terms with her grief, the secrets of her past, and her feelings for the two men she's fallen in love with.

William vs. Nathan: Who will Billie choose? Well, isn't this just the most amazing dilemma to have?! You have the super sexy Swedish actor who loves deeply and shows that love with grand gestures or a super sexy British lawyer with a heart of gold who wants to marry you. In the end, I think Billie chose the right person, but damn I felt bad for the poor guy she rejected.

As always, I loved the drama between Billie and the men in her life, but what really makes this book stand apart from the others is the beautiful growth we witness in Billie.

This girl has been through so much. From the death of her mother to the rampage of her psycho ex-boyfriend, there's a lot of trauma and hurt Billie must sort through in order to move on with her life. It was difficult during the first part of the book to witness Billie grieving for her lost loved ones, but it was necessary in order for her to find some clarity. By the end, Billie is finally able to express her true feelings, stand up for herself, and ultimately, be honest with herself - allowing her to take her life into her own hands.

Overall, this was another great addition to the series. Billie finally listened to her heart and made some wonderful discoveries about herself. I'm extremely happy with how things turned out and I only wonder what's in store for her next.

3 ⭐️ I’m absolutely heartstruck

3 ⭐️ I’m usually not into love triangles (or squares) but Alejandra made me a fan!!!

Summary:

Billie Murphy has lived a sheltered life. After years of living abroad with her father, a top US diplomat, she's used to staying in versus going out, having a security detail, and her non-existent dating life. But now that she's twenty years old and they're moving from Paris to New York, her father decides it's time to give Billie some independence by letting her live in her own apartment. Sure, she'll still need a security detail and everyone she meets will need background checks, but it's a start.

Within days of arriving in New York City, things start to get interesting. Billie rekindles a relationship with Thomas, a Princeton athlete she met briefly in Paris; she meets the Swedish family upstairs with the most gorgeous sons; and her long-term bodyguard and friend, Caleb, starts acting strangely overprotective.

As Billie steps into an eye-opening world of wealth and secrets—where everyone may not be who they seem—she’ll have to navigate her volatile new relationships and the mysteries of her past—to find her path forward.

My Thoughts:

First off, thank you, Alejandra, for sending me a copy of your book to read! I enjoyed Billie's story and can't wait to see what happens next!

I enjoyed the fast pace. The story is more character drive than plot drive, so the scenes tend to jump from one to the next relatively quickly, which I found a little jarring at first. But once I read a few chapters, I started to enjoy how quickly the story moved. This really allowed for the juicy drama to unfold rapidly, which I'm not complaining about.

Billie is an interesting MC. Her sheltered life has made her inexperienced, but I find that endearing. I enjoyed following her on this journey to learn about herself and find independence. And even though she is naive and wants to see the best in people, I like that she still has self-respect. (I'm specifically referring to how she handles Thomas).

Billie's relationships with Caleb, Thomas, and William are all so unique and interesting. Caleb is the safe guy who's always loved and protected her, Thomas is the the guy who offered her many firsts, and William is the hot Swedish guy who she can't figure out but he makes her heart flutter. Billie has chemistry with each, making decisions about her love life extremely difficult yet very entertaining for the reader to follow along.

Honestly, I don't even know who I want her to end up with, between Caleb and William. I love them both for entirely different reasons. Caleb is just so loyal and loves her for who she is, but William is an adorable flirt and secret softie. But between the nicknames 'Red' and 'Alskling' (which is darling in Swedish), I think I'll go with the second.

There were some parts of the story I didn't love or understand.

Billie's security detail left her alone in her room while injured with the ex-boyfriend they don't like. They're super protective of her, especially Caleb, so I really doubt they would allow this.

Sometimes, Billie is too naive. I know she is a bookworm and not super social, but you're telling me she doesn't recognize internationally famous movie stars. . . It does make sense but felt a bit unrealistic to me.

I would have liked to have seen her interact with more female characters. Out of 15 or so side characters, there are only 3 females: Lily, Nina, and Heather. She had two other girlfriends in Paris, but they don't show up once she leaves Paris.

Moonstruck at Midnight was an entertaining coming-of-age story. This story crept up on me, but once things started to heat up between Billie and a few of the guys, I couldn't put it down. I'm excited to see Billie's relationships with Caleb and William unfold (who will she choose????) and learn more about the shooting in Mexico City. I also have a feeling we are not done with Thomas yet, so I can't wait for all that drama! My guess is he's going to go full stalker mode, and someone's going to get hurt.

3.5 ⭐️ An enjoyable sequel to The Alien’s Ransom

I really love Val and Sax.

3.5 ⭐️ Okay, I’m actually hooked and diving right into the next book!

WHAT TO EXPECT:
- human women abduction story
- rescued by an alien biker gang
- strong FMC
- possessive MMC
- Insta-bond
- pierced aliens
- vibrating tongues (and cock)
- soul mates
- pregnancy trope

I love the characters (main and side), the world-building is fascinating, and the mate bond is interesting. This book had my laughing out loud a few times, and I read it in one day.

There were some English words the author changed a bit to make alien words, which had me rolling my eyes. For example, Fatas is like Fates, welf is like wolf, flecking is f*cking, and cunt…well, is cunt. Not very creative, but I guess A for effort.

The writing was good, but I found myself skimming a bit towards the end to get to the dialogue and love things along.

But I really did enjoy this and am 100% reading the next book because I just have to know what happens to Sax! Based on that read, I’ll decide if I want to continue reading the entire series.

3 ⭐️ A fun, entertaining sci-fi romance

This is a typical alien abduction story where the human woman is taken from Earth to either be sold as a sex slave or experimented on, only to be saved by a sexy alien (who happens to also be her mate but she doesn’t know it). There are a lot of similar themes and situations in this story that occur in other sci-fi romances, so while I wouldn’t say the premise is original, it is still unique enough to stand on its own.

The story was entertaining. I liked the MCs and their backstories. The world building was pretty good but I would have liked if what we got was told in a more succinct way. There is tension and spice, but I never really got into it.

What annoyed me (because I didn’t find it to be believable) was Varrek’s fear of becoming like his father when he’s legit showed zero signs of madness. He also doesn’t believe he’s worthy of a mate and I still don’t quite get why.

And then Chloe’s response to finding out his past was ridiculous. She calls it a betrayal for Varrek not telling her about his terrible past and crazy father, but how is that lying or a betrayal? Why can you all of a sudden not trust him? Her response was not justified. The drama just seemed to be there for conflict’s sake and I hate that.

While there is no direct OWD (other woman drama), I hate whenever stories showcase an ex-lover who becomes friends with the main character.

But I will say, I’m intrigued enough to read the next book, I just don’t know when that will be.
